The Many Things You Probably Didn't Know About Me

One of my favorite movies is the Illusionist - and one of my favorite magic tricks in the movie is the orange tree demonstrating the passage of time. Every time I see a clock I think of that scene. Today's post is a combination of both of these things.

Oranges take up to 8 months for an orange to ripen. Most of my friendships have been the same way. It takes weeks to make a grandfather clock by hand. And that's only after the skills have been learned - perfected even. It takes me seconds to think of you each and every day. But I don't text, call, or write because you don't reach out anymore.

Maybe next time I pull an orange out of the branches for myself I'll see if you still want to talk.

The Poet Potentially Prevails

I've been away pretending I'm on more adventures than I've actually been on. Savoring every last second of each and begging myself not to let it be the last. Maybe you understand the looming deadlines a single body can put on an open mind and a heart pinned not so delicately to your left sleeve - and if not I envy you and wish you nothing but the best. I've been away but I think it's been good for me. I'm back for now.
